JOOLA makes six paddles in its Pro V range, and all six share the same construction inside. What sets them apart is the shape, and shape changes how a paddle plays more than almost anything else on the spec sheet. Here's how the six compare, and how to pick yours.
The short answer
What every Pro V shares
Pick any Pro V and you get the same construction, which makes the choice simpler: you're really choosing a shape.
- KineticFrame throat. JOOLA's patent-pending frame is built into the throat. It flexes to store swing momentum and release it on impact, for better ball placement.
- Honeycomb Propulsion core. Built for energy return, so the ball comes off lively. It's a honeycomb core with added foam, which puts the Pro V in the Gen 3 family.
- Foam-injected edge wall. Foam around the perimeter adds stability on off-center hits and widens the usable sweet spot.
- Textured carbon fiber face. For grip on the ball and spin.
- Approved for tournament play. Every Pro V is on both the USA Pickleball and the UPA-A approved lists. Which one your event needs.
14MM or 16MM?
Five of the six come in both thicknesses. JOOLA says the 14MM gives more pop and a quicker response, while the 16MM adds dwell time for more control on resets and blocks. The 16MM versions are also about 0.2 oz heavier and have a slightly bigger grip. The Radius comes in 16MM only. Thickness is only one of the things that decide power and control, though. Here are the other four.
| Paddle | Shape | Size | Handle | Weight 16 / 14MM |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Radius | Widebody | 15.8" × 8.2" | 5" | 8.0 oz |
| Scorpeus | Widebody | 16.0" × 8.0" | 5.25" | 8.2 / 8.0 oz |
| Kosmos | Hybrid | 16.3" × 7.7" | 5.25" | 8.1 / 7.9 oz |
| Perseus | Elongated | 16.5" × 7.5" | 5.5" | 8.1 / 7.9 oz |
| Hyperion | Elongated | 16.5" × 7.5" | 5.5" | 8.1 / 7.9 oz |
| Agassi | Elongated | 16.5" × 7.5" | 5.5" | 8.1 / 7.9 oz |
Radius comes in 16MM only. Grip: 4.25" on the 16MM versions (Radius 4.125"), 4.125" on the 14MM versions.
Widebody
Radius and Scorpeus: the most forgiving
The two widest faces in the range. A bigger sweet spot and more stability mean blocks and resets still land when the ball is coming at you fast. The Radius is the wider of the two, while the Scorpeus is a touch longer.

Hybrid
Kosmos: the middle ground
The Kosmos sits between the widebodies and the elongated shapes, with a little more reach than the Scorpeus and a little more forgiveness than the Perseus. If you can't tell which camp you're in, start here.

Elongated
Perseus, Hyperion and Agassi: the most reach
Three shapes with the same 16.5" × 7.5" size and 5.5" handle. They play differently because of what happens at the top and bottom of the face: rounded corners on the Perseus, an aero-curve head on the Hyperion, and a tapered throat with the sweet spot higher up on the Agassi.

Which Pro V is yours?
- 1You live at the kitchen line. Take the Radius. It has the biggest hitting area JOOLA makes and a short 5" handle that frees up your wrist for flicks and rolls.
- 2You want the quickest hands possible. Take the Scorpeus. It's the shortest Pro V, so it's the fastest to get into position.
- 3You do a bit of everything. Take the Kosmos. Some extra reach, without giving up much forgiveness.
- 4You want reach without losing consistency. Take the Perseus. Rounded corners keep the sweet spot centered when you stretch for a ball.
- 5You want reach and fast hands. Take the Hyperion. Its aero-curve head is built to move quickly through the air.
- 6You're coming from tennis. Take the Agassi. The sweet spot sits higher on the face, where tennis players tend to make contact.

What's the difference between the Perseus and the Hyperion?
Both are 16.5" × 7.5" elongated paddles with a 5.5" handle, and both are Ben Johns shapes. The Perseus has rounded corners that keep the sweet spot centered when you reach. The Hyperion has an aero-curve head built to move faster through the air.
Should I get the 14MM or the 16MM?
JOOLA says the 14MM gives more pop and a quicker response, and the 16MM adds dwell time for more control on resets and blocks. If you're not sure, start with the 16MM for more control.
Which JOOLA Pro V is the most forgiving?
The two widebodies. The Radius has the largest hitting area and sweet spot in JOOLA's lineup, and the Scorpeus is the shortest and quickest Pro V.
Are JOOLA Pro V paddles approved for tournaments?
